Is Salad your go to health food? The salads you are eating may actually be worse for you than a fast food burger.
Here are two examples:
Panera Bread: Most of the salads are at least 500 calories with the Tomato, Mozzarella & Basil Salad being the worst at 770 calories, 47 grams of fat, and 1200 milligrams of sodium. Leave off the croutons and you’ll save 340 calories, 14 grams of fat, and 650 milligrams of sodium.
Keep in mind that doesn’t include the bread they give you or any other side or beverage.
Applebees: Their weight watchers salads have the least amount of calories but are very high in sodium (1800 – 2060 mg).
Crispy Shrimp Ceaser Salad is the worst at 1030 calories, 77 grams of fat, 14g sat. fat, 2240 mg. sodium. All of the caesar salads are 800 calories so steer clear.
There are so many apps out there now that you can download to your phone which will give you restaurant nutrition so you know what you are eating.
Also, try to use dressing sparingly. Most of the salads out there come with dressing that is easily over 100 calories per serving and you can bet that many of the salads have more than 1 serving of dressing.
Be aware of what you are eating and don’t ruin your hard work with a silly thing like a salad.
