Have you your underarm flab and asked what exercises will get rid of it?
Many people ask me about targeting a specific area of their body aka spot training. If you are doing 100 crunches a day and still have a pooch, I am not surprised.
I am sure by now you’ve probably read in some magazine how spot training doesn’t work. But then you read another article in that same magazine swearing that if you do their workout for 4 weeks you will have a flat stomach. What you don’t usually notice is the fine print where it says you also must do 30 minutes of cardio and only eat 1200 calories a day.
Why doesn’t spot training work? Because FAT DOESN’T TURN INTO MUSCLE. I’ve mentioned this before but it bares repeating. You cannot simply do triceps kickbacks and expect the fat to magically turn into toned muscle. Muscle will grow but you’ve got to lose the fat in order to achieve that toned look and stop flapping in the wind.
Now, there are 3 things you must do.
1. Nutrition. You must make sure you are eating the right amount of calories and correct amounts of carbs, proteins and fats.
2. Cardio. You must make sure that you are moving around at least 30 minutes most days per week. If you cannot maintain a workout where your heart rate goes up and down (intervals) then you should make sure you are moving (like walking) every day for at least 30 minutes. At the very least.
3. Strength training. Yes, you do need to create and build muscle. This will boost your metabolism so you burn more fat as well as create muscles so when you burn off the fat you are nice and toned. Do not fear bulking up. It takes a lot to get bulky and if you are concerned about it – leave me a comment and I will give you more reassurances.
